What’s the best thing about working at Children’s?

I love working in an environment where there are so many knowledgeable and experienced people in almost every specialty within the same facility. This is a great resource for our patients!

I also love working in an environment where so many people share the common passion of working with children and wanting to provide the best possible care for them and their families.

What do you like most about the work you do in the Neurosurgery Division?

Working with the other team members within our department. The surgeons I work with are experts in their field and all of the clinicians are very knowledgeable and experienced. The patient care coordinators also do a wonderful job. We all work very hard and have a tremendous amount of respect for one another. We are a great team!

What makes Children’s Neurosurgery Division unique?

We are unique because of the variety of patients we have. We have some patients who have simple neurosurgical problems that can be fixed easily. At the same time, we have some patients with very complex and serious diagnoses.

What made you want to come to Children’s?

When I was in nursing school at the University of Washington, I did a rotation at Children’s. It was the last rotation I did and as soon as I started, I knew I had found my niche! I absolutely adore the children and love working with their families. I also feel that the patients within Children’s receive wonderful care and I wanted to be a part of such a great team!

What do people say when they find out you work here?

The first thing people ask is “How can you work with sick children, it must be so hard?” I explain to them that it can be really hard at times, but overall, it is incredibly rewarding to be able to help these sick children and their families through these tough times.
